There was no problem with
Holding starting. The problem was with Monreal starting. If people are saying Monreal starts over
Holding this means a LB is better than a CB at LCB which is more
of a disgrace to the CB.Monreal is good but he does not have the qualities
of a CB to play there for long. He's not your stand out tackler, interceptor or
ball winner. He doesn't have the height or
even the strength. He's just a solid 1v1 player but being a great CB is not all about 1v1.
Arteta has shown that he can not do a
holding role anymore, he can not
even be relied upon to help maintain possesion
of the
ball anymore, do we need 2 «old»
holding CM players?
We can't string 2 passes together when pressed,

ball and I really can't understand why.
Up by two,
even parking the bus — which is something I've learned to hate as a Timbers fan — we suck at it — all he has to do is
hold his ground, mark up, and stay in front
of the

even find one that could catch,
hold onto, nor judge the flight
of a

Besides several teams who have questions surrounding one or possibly two players, there is no squad that has so many issues heading into the final week
of the transfer window...
even Monaco, who have lost numerous players from their starting 11 have less controversy swirling in and around their club and they have champion's league play to contend with this season... just think
of how ridiculous this situation is especially considering that we have had the same manager for over 20 years... no team should be better organized than ours... if nothing else, that should be the one advantage this team
holds over all others, yet the exact opposite has occurred... this fact is
even more disturbing considering the main argument against removing Wenger from his managerial position was that there was no suitable replacement and that people feared some sort
of perceived drop - off if a new manager was brought into the mix... based on what we've witnessed since the time
of his contract renewal a monkey with a magic eight
ball could have done an adequate job... I hate to make jokes, in light
of our current dilemma, but this team is so screwed up if I don't laugh about it, the only plausible response is to either cry or do something incredibly destructive... just look around this squad and try to see what our delusional manager sees that allow him to make such positive statements about our current team
let me state this clear.we will beat real Madrid hands down if we played d way we played Bayern on d first leg and how we played manure in d league.if we have especially carzola, coq & ozil on their a game nobody in reals midfield can stop and
hold d
ball d way we'll do.intact our main team comprising bells, monreal, kos
even per, and den Sanchez walcot and
of course our handsome giroud.common dis guys will beat any team except DAT surreal barca
Wenger isn't going anywhere,
even if we're knocked out by Sutton Utd the Board still wouldn't have the
balls to sack him, because it's all about the???? and just how Wenger shows loyalty to the out
of form and injury prone players, the board and Owner
hold the same regards towards him.
He needs to look at gerrard and see how he plays his game or
even xabi alonso, they control the midfield but not by
holding on the
ball forever and trying to win every challenge, wilshere looked good in englands last couple
of games just picking that
ball up and pinging it around the pitch
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety
of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style
of play has become a shadow
of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out
of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the
ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through
balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid
of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can
even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out
of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest
Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the
ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes
of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play
of Monreal, but none
of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio
of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey
holds onto the
ball too long, gives the
ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long
ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part
of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part
of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature
of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player
of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out
of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front
of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that,
of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but
even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one
of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one
of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already
of course... strangely enough,
even he doesn't make sense given the constructs
of the original Wenger offensive model because he
holds onto the
ball too long and he will give the
ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would
even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack
of mobility is an albatross around the necks
of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because
of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
Wenger did not miss Ashley Williams, he bought
Holding because he is cheaper and another «yes boss» type
of player... We got Chambers for # 16millions, and he talks about knowing the market, he could not find his way in or out
even if he had a gun to his head and a flash light stuck to his
balls.
I am proud
of ev, I want him to stay because he can at least hand us doubles while we rebuild our squad and resurrect our style many are mad and sad but honestly with this squad we deserve to be 4th and struggling for cl qualification next year without CD - R dreams let us not forget that while RM Roma Bayern,
even PSG built we slept, laporta will never sign paulinho denis, gomes, vidal signed, (he would not
even sign coutinho and dembele because we play possession based football where you act fast and
hold onto the
ball though they are not suited for that.
Wenger lost the plot when he brought in Giroud... what about the beautiful game involves having a lumbering striker who's main attribute is
holding up play... our success with Wenger, and
even before, came with pace and clinical striking up front, having a boss in the midfield and having physically imposing CBs... what about Wright, Bergkamp, Anelka, Henry or RVP remind anyone
of Giroud (minus the left foot
of course)... the formula was broken, which didn't have to be the end
of our success, but when you adopt half - measures you can't expect things just to work themselves out on their own... at the very least Wenger should have brought in some wingers that can consistently cross the
ball and then spend significantly more time addressing our lack
of success with set pieces... ultimately this is why we continued to struggle with consistency and continued to constantly play people in the wrong positions
He spent most
of the match playing as a deep - lying midfield instead
of making runs or
holding up the
ball or
even just staying in his own bloody position.
To me, i feel xhaka is well needed in dis new formation (d 3 -4-3) n moreso, he is a typical arsenal kind
of player... can
hold on to d
ball n distribute it with precision... all we need to succeed with dis new formation is to get a combative football playing midfielder dat can win d
ball n move with it... in d mould
of naby keita, verrati n
even Everton's gana can do d job or better still, take renato sanchez on loan... doubt if he is going to get enough playing time as he would want at bayern dis season again coz
of their luxury
of midfield player, not sure if he will be in d 1st team with vidal n thiago alcantara unbenchable n anceloti having a soft spot for kimmich (just as wenger has for Ramsey) I think if we propose a loan deal for renato sanchez dah bayern will grant it
Telling me players are not to blame is absolutely rubbish, they are to blame, yes Monaco mission was to relax and repell Arsenal and if possible shut them down completely, this gam was ours to take, First the pressure was on Monaco, they didn't know how to go about it, whether to defend their 3 - 1 advantage or press us, we had more than enough clear cut chances but as usual we were clueless in front
of goal, we tried to open them apart which is impossible, Carzolla and Alexis played as if we lead 15 - 0,
holding balls, try to dribble every time they have the
ball and and reduce the pace and any chance
of other to get through, losing
balls carelessly, poor crosses is now our style, it doesn't threatened
even Charlton athletic coz everyone now knows our crosses is poorly delivered and our attackers also don't have a clue how to do it
even if one get through it will be wasted, this game should have been won by range attempts which was only tried once by ÖZIL and was blocked.
Hahaha pepes here saying Benzema is not significantly better than Giroud.i do not
even want to go to stats.Firstly lets talk about finishing, Giroud finishing is not really that good at all.He misses a lot
of chances. He most at times needs many chances to score and all also misses sitters too much.his shot accuracy too ai nt that good at all. This makes him an average finisher.Secondly, lets go to his dribbling abilities.every player has his own limitations.Giroud has average dribbling.there are many times if he could beat a player he would have been through on goal but since he cant he just waits for support denying the team a chance to score in most cases.Average dribbler. In addition,
hold up play, Giroud
holds up the
ball really well, however, this does not work in all cases against physically strong defenders and also very intelligent defenders his
hold up play suffers a lot.so for
hold up play he is ok.i could go on and on my word this striker is not good at all do nt you watch him or you want to use his stats.ah!

if we are looking to coount on Eboue for the midfield role, i'd rather wenger goes to one
of the most under - rated countries as far as footbalall is concerned.kenya is booming with young talent recently with the upcoming rigorous academies.Italians have already moved in and a year later Parma is reaping big with Mariga.the huge midfielder has a record
of loosing the
ball the least times at any serie a match.the only reason why he does nt play the
holding role for his country is because there are much better options for the role
even in the local league with the most likely choice being Austin Makacha who recently sighned for IK sirius in sweden.i think Wenger should check him out or at least snd scouts to the larger East africa if not just Kenya.nice piece on tommy7 and eddie
