The International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor program in the south of France will use
magnetic fusion and employ
strong magnetic fields to
hold and fuse hydrogen plasma.
The breakthrough is in
magnetic confinement fusion, in which hydrogen is heated until it is a plasma 10 times hotter than the centre of the sun, and
held in place by
strong magnetic fields until fusion reactions occur.
The gauntlet Juno ran at Jupiter
held many chances for catastrophe: The spacecraft might have been knocked out by intense
magnetic fields (at that distance, 20 times
stronger than Earth's), ionizing radiation (a total dose of 265 rads — more than enough to kill a human being), dust particles from Jupiter's rings (from which the main engine was completely unshielded) or loss of power if the solar arrays were unable to reorient to the sun.
Scientists think the
stronger magnetic field would have kept more gasses in the atmosphere, just as a
stronger magnet can
hold more paper clips.
Loops of plasma are
held in place by the sun's
strong magnetic fields, concentrated in active regions that are visible to the naked eye as sunspots.
Anyone disputing Jelbrings hypothesis needs to prove that gravity does not provide a minimum heat / energy level in matter when that matter is being
held back from falling further through the gravity
field by the electro -
magnetic and
strong forces of the atoms in the rocks at the surface of the planet.
