As for pressing higher up, Vardy moves about and his movement is nothing Giroud has ever done, if we go back to before Giroud then you will see how RvP was moving around to get the ball and be active in the game, not a static fool like Giroud who could only
hold the ball up for others... which slows down any attack we make.

Ramsey — overpaid, overused, injury prone, not clinical enough as a passer or finisher and he's played out of position way too much to the detriment of our supposed offensive and defensive schemes... obviously I think he has some skills and I'm pleased he didn't let his horrible injury years ago end his career but he

I still don't see how he is a super sub. He's labelled as a super sub just because of this season. Those matches when he scored he was supposed to be played because we needed an aerial presence.A lot of those matches had he started we could've won because we needed aerial presence. But the thing is that his abilities don't suit him as a super sub.I mean he
holds up the
ball well and is great in the air and that's just about it.He's actually the one one who needs service and who needs players around him to open
up defences
for him to receive the pass and not vice versa.Super subs actually provide they are not the one's to be provided
for.In Giroud's case he was supposed to start in those in matches as Sanchez was not
up to the task in aerial battles.Giroud will not be able to affect a match if the opponents are as good in the air.

Besides several teams who have questions surrounding one or possibly two players, there is no squad that has so many issues heading into the final week of the transfer window... even Monaco, who have lost numerous players from their starting 11 have less controversy swirling in and around their club and they have champion's league play to contend with this season... just think of how ridiculous this situation is especially considering that we have had the same manager
for over 20 years... no team should be better organized than ours... if nothing else, that should be the one advantage this team
holds over all others, yet the exact opposite has occurred... this fact is even more disturbing considering the main argument against removing Wenger from his managerial position was that there was no suitable replacement and that people feared some sort of perceived drop - off if a new manager was brought into the mix... based on what we've witnessed since the time of his contract renewal a monkey with a magic eight
ball could have done an adequate job... I hate to make jokes, in light of our current dilemma, but this team is so screwed
up if I don't laugh about it, the only plausible response is to either cry or do something incredibly destructive... just look around this squad and try to see what our delusional manager sees that allow him to make such positive statements about our current team
Alexis gets chance to play as a CF
for periods as Theo can drop out wide easier than Giroud, if Welbz is playing on the right then all 3 of our players could play wide and CF.. The
hold up play Giroud is great at won't be needed so much as Ozil and Alexis can do
hold onto the
ball and then bring others into play.
as
for cech the difference is that Chelsea he had matic / terry & cahill / ivanovic in front of him all of them are well over are good at defending esp at set pieces while at we have midgets defending apart from mertasacker & giroud one of the reason wenger plays giroud is not just because he can
hold up the
ball but he can defend in conner kicks / freekicks as well
Giroud is very strong and heavy, he is also good in the air and can
hold up the
ball and do that pseudo midfielder thing well enough
for Wenger to keep picking him as the spearhead.
But when we need the
ball to be retained more and
held up, plus there is more defending to do, then in come welbeck and giroud
for ox and theo..
He's a bit overrated I must say.I also don't get those who are asking him to tackle well. The fact is he's not a good tackler.I fear Wenger has made him untouchable in our team such that even if he plays badly he still starts.I mean if people are saying he's not a DM in the first place then is he also a CM?If he's a CM does he have the quality to play along side a DM?These are the questions we need to ask ourselves. If he's a CM then he's good at distributing from deep and also
up top but he can't
hold thd
ball in tight spaces or dribble which is very important. If he's a DM then he simply can't defend. That's why
for us to be successful in the long term with him we need a hybrid midfielder or what I call a defensive box to box midfielder.
... he played there against crystal palace, Everton 2 season ago and it was a disaster... our build
up is majorly done closer to d centre circle than d oppositions box... that's y girouds
hold up play is vital... either we go with dat path or we look
for a striker who is lightning quick (so when we make d final pass, it doesn't get wasted), uses both legs to shoot on sight, with good accuracy... playing Sanchez, who is not very good with his back to goal as a 9 is useless and though fast,
holds on to d
ball a lot tryn to get d best angle to shoot... we need a striker who is very intelligent with d timing of his runs... too bad Walcott is as intelligent as a sheep, cld have been d perfect cf...

A big target man in the box

i still
hold the opinion the striker we use is dependent on the opposition we play,
for all the brilliance of Alex he has been shut out in several games by pressing arsenal and letting us having to resort to long
balls which he fails to get on to, if teams stops arsenal build
up, they stop arsenal with sanchez as the forward, however with both Alex and Giroud on the field we have the opportunity to switch styles without making changes.
Also the reason
for his constant injuries is that he
holds on to the
ball for too long when played in advanced positions then ends
up getting clattered, in the deep role this is not the case and I honestly do nt know how wenger hasnt seen that
After Jacobs is stopped

This should be enough reason to highlight the need
for a creative CM similar to Cazorla so that either Xhaka or Coquelin can be liberated and focus more on maintaining and balancing the middle in defense;
ball possession and
hold up play.
If you don't ask him to
hold up the
ball then oppurtunities
for our backs Bellerin and Monreal to get into the flow as it would take them time to get in position to create width.
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer
for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the
ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through
balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming
up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest
Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the
ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone
for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as
for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played
for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey
holds onto the
ball too long, gives the
ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long
ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as
for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad
for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he
holds onto the
ball too long and he will give the
ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
Giroud going to The Chavs actually weakens their squad as Batshuayi will score more goals than the Frenchman will.Giroud is NOT a good finisher he is NOT a good target man he does NOT
hold the
ball up and bring others into the game he has NOT got any pace He is NOT anywhere near the class of Lacazette.JUST GET RID OF HIM.If he was anywhere near half decent he would have doubled his goal tally
for us since he's been here.
A couple times he had a good opportunity to play a simple enough through
ball, also when out wide he
held up play allot, with little penetration
for getting in behind and getting decent space
for crossing.
Alexis had fighting spirit plus selfish attitude and maybe that has been mixed
up for carrying the club, he did very well the 3 previous seasons in scoring but he has always had the issue of
holding onto the
ball too long, AFC accommodated that and looked to make the most out of it.
