A special feature of the Sport, Sport + and DSC Off setting is the suppression of automatic up - shift in Manual (M) Shift Mode — hereby the selected gear is held into the rpm limiter and the transmission will not up - shift into a higher gear.

But it needs to be worked harder to get the best out of it, and you often find it hunting for gears where the diesel just holds on to a high cog and rides the wave of torque.

If you aren't going to row through the gears yourself with the shift paddles, leaving the transmission in Comfort mode is probably best, unless you like unnecessarily high revs at commuting speeds — Sport is okay, but Sport + holds revs for far too long in normal driving situations.

This transmission features a Sport shift program that holds each of its forward gears higher into the tachometer's swing and delays shifting into higher gears at the expense of a bit of fuel efficiency.
