As is customary after the
holiday rush, January was a light month for
game releases.
To
gamers, that means that the start of a mad
rush of AAA titles meant to vie for your
holiday dollars is a few months out, and that it officially begins with the inevitable launch of a new title in the insanely profitable Call of Duty series.
But, me personally, will take a
game when it's done not one that's
rushed out the door (I do not mean Gears 2) just to make some money from uninformed
holiday shoppers.
Dead Space, the first true blockbuster gaming experience of the mad
rush of high end
games that is the fourth quarter, hit shelves yesterday and is hoping to scare the beejeebus out of
gamers everywhere and start the money making party that is gaming during the
holidays.
With the arid wasteland of summer behind us, September ushers in one of the most chaotic times in the calendar year for
games: the
holiday rush.

I also feel like Quantum Break will either need to be delayed for quite awhile (Remedy's track record of a slower dev time coupled w / the time mechanics & live tv segments seem to point to this
game not releasing this year), or Microsoft might push them to
rush the
game out in order to have a compelling exclusive in time for the
holidays (I hope not)

To be quite honest, I think 2012's pre-Xmas
rush of
games nearly crippled me in terms of workload and I was still playing them to write articles over the
holiday break.
However, it looks like PlayStation
gamers have a lot to look forward to this month as the
rush for releasing
games in time for the
holidays has already begun.
After mourning that I missed a chance to play the
game upon its release, I finally managed to get a hold of it during the
holiday rush.
I was originally supposed to review this
game before Christmas, but the
holiday rush and onslaught of new
games forced me to push it to the back burner for a little while.

Just like their launch of Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, Nintendo is kicking off
holiday shopping nice and early, offering some pretty deep discounts for digital
games on all three of their platforms ahead of the weekend

While it is a shame that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be out later then we thought, It is always good for
games to be released when they are done, and not
