On metro level, however, Indianapolis, Ind., topped the list, which had the best combination of
affordability and
home size, according to NerdWallet's
study.
According to RealtyTrac and Down Payment Resource, the
study reviewed 370 counties, and ranked each based on how it scored in five metrics:
affordability of house payment in April 2015 relative to its historical average; maximum income allowed for homeownership programs relative to median income; maximum
home price allowed for down payment help relative to median
home prices; average down payment program benefit relative to median
home prices; and number of homeownership programs available relative to total housing units.
The
study that analyzed several agents found that financing difficulties and lack of
affordability were holding back buyers from investing in
homes.

study highlights the real effects that building regulations have on housing
affordability,» says NAHB Chairman Kevin Kelly, a
home builder and developer from Wilmington, Del. «Local, state and federal government officials need to know that higher regulatory costs have real consequences for working American families.
