Major Hollywood studios have partnered with Dolby to release
home video versions of current box - office releases and previously released favorites.
What's more, although An Unexpected Journey already runs close to three hours,
the home video version will feature almost half an hour of extra footage.
The long preview version had long ago supplanted the original theatrical release for theatrical showings, while
the home video version was a revision of its own, a hybrid of the two existing versions combined without any consideration of artistic intent or narrative consistency.
Featurettes, deleted scenes, a full - length documentary detailing writer / director Rian Johnson's journey with the film,
the home video version of the blockbuster has it all.
