As many as TEN MILLION wonderful and loving
dogs and cats are destroyed
in this
country every year, simply for the «crime» of being
homeless.
Obviously this overbreeding only complicates matters and increases the number of
homeless cats and
dogs in our
country.
With the assistance of a dedicated group of volunteers and Friends of Oakland Animal Services, OAS saved the lives of more than 5,000
homeless, injured, orphaned, unwanted, abandoned, and / or mistreated companion animals
in 2015 alone (this includes all companion animals saved, not only
dogs and cats), has one of the few nationally recognized rabbit programs
in the
country and features improved housing and indoor / outdoor play areas for animal enrichment.
So even
in a
country as modern as Russia,
homeless dogs are a problem.
The answers to those questions may be hard to pinpoint, exactly, but we can establish a pretty good baseline by taking a look at what other
countries around the globe are doing
in terms of their handling and sheltering of
