The mythology of the pill is so strong and the dominance of
hormonal birth control so effective, it's not easy finding the space to think critically about this issue.
Even worse (in my opinion), I masked my body's signals with
hormonal birth control so I had no idea how long my cycles were, how regular my cycles were, if I ovulated regularly, etc. etc. until I began using FAM.

What's new in
hormonal birth control is that there are
so many different ways to get the stuff into your body.
Some
hormonal birth control doesn't allow the estrogen and progesterone to fluctuate like with the natural cycle,
so this plan is less applicable.
There are more
birth control options than ever before, including various types of
hormonal pills, condoms, the IUD, and
so on.
Hormonal birth control affects every woman differently,
so if you're taking one type and you think it's messing with your weight (and no lifestyle factors come into play), switching to a similar type of contraception that has a different hormone combo can nix the weight gain.
It was a stressful time in my life (career change), and I was monkeying around with
