Discernment, I am arguing, is how we have always read the Bible; in fact, it is
how biblical authors themselves read the Bible they had!
So we spent a lot of time on
how the biblical authors themselves used pre-existing Scriptures.

how some take the words of one supposed «theologian» to another and then tells everyone not to listen to their pastor who has probably had as much experience (if not more) with
biblical interpretation than this

Most
biblical authors assume that their readers want to know
how to obey God and follow Jesus better.
There is no way to escape the fact that our common sense approach to the universe, our common sense of
how it works, is very different in some important ways from the common sense of the
Biblical authors and the formulators of orthodox Christian doctrine.
I am really starting to see the danger in allowing your own mindset to «color»
how you understand the words of the

how can God inspire
biblical authors to write that He commanded Israel to do things that He did not actually command them to do?
