Before we dive headlong into the technical aspects of the creation of eBooks, I believe it is important to understand
eReaders a bit better, and
how these
devices have shaped and changed the way we are experiencing books.

The first thing to understand about digital publishing is what
devices people use to consume digital content, including what types of publications each
device class can support,
how people use the
devices, and where
ereading hardware is headed.
You're also not likely to choose an
eReader based purely on the price of books in its proprietary store; other considerations, including (but not limited to) quality and price of hardware and software, connectivity options, and
how easy it is to transfer books between
devices, will also come into play.
Nussbaum, who spoke at DBW 14, talked about the emerging
devices like the various digital reading platforms, such as
ereaders, smartphones, and the iPad, and
how those
devices can only show so much in a particular online store.
Given that
ereaders are consumer tech and the rate at which each model is being superseded I would say it's not really in anyone's best interest to spend time figuring out

devices are manufactured abroad and therefore transported across oceans.
That's because I'm a big fan of an iBooks feature that the Kindle and BN
eReader apps (along with their corresponding hardware
devices, the Kindle and the Nook) ought to implement post-haste: a small indicator telling you
how many pages remain in the current chapter.

devices, I thought it would be helpful to take a look at media queries and
