It's fascinating to see controversy stirred up over an

I thought about not even posting this series of

how I got to this entry as I was looking to see if you had any recipes for swiss buttercream frosting as I am making a rainbow cake for a friend's four year
old's birthday (from the «whisk kid»
blog) and had some questions about storage.
How could I not have found your
blog before??? I love it, and can't wait to sift through your

How on earth did this space, a tiny little food
blog, turn three years
old?
I sat down and decided to finally start a
blog (after a couple years of consideration, because that's
how I roll) 3 years ago on Saturday, which makes no sense because it feels like just last week I was sitting at my
old white MacBook, wrapped in a blanket because my
old apartment was FREEZING, and freaking out over what to write about in my first post.
If you do click through to see the
old version though, you might be surprised or amused to see
how simple
blog recipes were back in those days!
While I cringe at some of my
old photos, I love seeing
how far my little
blog has come!
... or instead of buying all of these new items, use items you already have around the house —
old purses (for girls), tupperware, visit second - hand stores for cloth napkins... it's hard to get excited about «be a green parent» articles,
blog entries, and websites that just tell us to go buy something b / c it is green... even the Waste Free Lunch website tries to sell us on
how much less it costs to pack a lunch, saying that cloth napkins, lunch bag, reusable containers and thermoses don't cost anything while tabulating the cost of paper / disposable versions... but there is an initial layout, so that argument doesn't hold my attention.

I was looking through some
