Beset - upon Kovacs is a genuinely nice guy, and it's hard not to root for him, no matter
how ridiculous the plot gets.

Between parallel dimensions and random teleportation, there are a few moments of genuine surprises, like the missing gyroscope and earthworms, but they entail
ridiculous plot holes about
how human anatomy works.
It usually involves a
ridiculous plot, some cheesy dialogue and a cool action scene or two, but the real draw continues to be seeing
how many former action stars Sylvester Stallone can cram into a single film.
For the record, I spent approximately 15 hours of this game swimming in
ridiculous plot twists, evil villains twisting their metaphorical mustaches and
ridiculous one - liners explaining
how Shulk and his friends will overcome all obstacles using friendship and love and other
ridiculous notions.
Even more impressive is
how the
plot actually makes you care about these characters; unlike the intro / outro clipshows most fighting games have to offer, MKX's story bothers to include things like character development and heartfelt moments in between all the
ridiculous action.
I'm not suggesting the developers kill a main Final Fantasy character for no reason, but they should raise the stakes in the
plots to help gamers feel their actions mean something, adding some realism by having real vulnerability, not invincible characters who overcome every adversity no matter
how ridiculous.
In terms of «Games in front of the wife» I'm the exact opposite, «super serious»
plot based games I keep for when my wife isn't around because she always seems to have a way to cut through the pretension to point out just
how ridiculous Mass Effect, or Bioshock or Red Dead Demption are.
The
plot is also a little of a letdown just because of
how ridiculous it gets.
