You are running away because you can not prove your basic underlying
belief — a childish
belief in
supernatural deities — and you can not explain
how your deity is powerless to control its cult members, never mind all of humanity.
If you were as private with your
supernatural beliefs as you wanted those with conflicting faiths to be, you'd never have to hear
how silly, wrong, and potentially harmful others find your
beliefs.
Atheists just can't figure out
how anyone comes to the conclusion that any particular religion, or
belief in any
supernatural beings, actually makes enough sense to believe.
I guess what I am wondering is this:
How has the modern society in which I live managed to completely overlook the fact that a sane person and an insane person can believe the very same things concerning the
supernatural (God), the improvable (God), the undetectable (God), and yet the sane person will never pause to look at the oddity of their shared
beliefs?
This aspect of humans is likely
how belief in the
supernatural gets bootstrapped in many people's minds.
