I often find that the only way to truly fathom just
how vast the universe is, or to successfully communicate the insane enormity of it to other people, is to illustrate just how small humanity is.

I am pretty much with you in that, as humans, we don't have the know
how or the mental capacity to even start to know anything about the
vast universe.
just raise your head 45 degrees into the sky and be stunned from the creator, God, seeing the

how everything is calcuated in a precise way such that the whole

If the

There appear to be no limits on
how vast something can be or
how small something can be in our physical
universe.
No matter
how much we learn and advance on all levels, we are but a tiny speck in this
vast universe, hence a Higher Power, a Supreme Being, IS behind it all.
But when we look out from the earth to seek to understand the
universe of which our planet is such an infinitesimal part, and to ask
how it all began, we find ourselves in a bewilderingly
vast space which just defies our imagination.

universe was small and cozy, we read the passage in Ptolemy's Almagest where he concludes that the
universe is unimaginably
vast, and calls the whole earth (which Eratosthenes had accurately measured as about 8,000 miles in diameter) a needle prick compared with the
universe; and we read Boethius» Consolation of Philosophy, which popularized this idea; and even a typical sermon that used the idea to show
how great God was to have created such an enormous
universe.
Simulations of
how large - scale cosmic structures form suggest that galaxies are connected by a
vast network of dark matter, the evasive substance that makes up most of the
universe's matter but interacts with regular matter only via gravity (SN Online: 10/11/17).
They should help us to hone descriptions of
how, after the big bang, the
universe grew from smaller than a proton into a
vast expanse in less than a trillionth of a trillionth of a second.
It is just the latest and most ambitious bid to study
how the
universe is expanding and tell us what the
vast bulk of the cosmos is made of.
The only other option was to confront the
vast nothingness and indifference of the
universe and acknowledge
how little time and space we take up in the grand scheme.
But given the
vast size and age of the
universe, I also knew
how astronomically unlikely it was we would ever make contact with it, much less within the narrow window of my own lifetime.
If you choose to ignore growth stocks & investing, you're voluntarily cutting yourself off from
vast swathes of the available investment
universe — that's countless companies, entire sectors, new / disruptive business models & secular trends, even geographies, etc. you're missing out on, maybe forever...
how does that make any sense?
