Questions that remain unanswered and are of interest to biometeorologists include:
how do these contrasting landscapes affect the exchanges of energy on seasonal and annual time scales; and, do biophysical constraints imposed by
water supply and
water demand affect whether the land is occupied by open grasslands or savanna?
The Dialogue recognises
how the close interaction between
water, energy and food — the nexus — has led to new
demands for
water infrastructure and technology solutions.
Thankfully, such a bill — one that requires deep
water drilling be better regulated,
demands oil companies employ more preventative measures and have thorough response plans, and eliminates the «liability cap» on
how much those companies must pay in damages when they cause a spill — is advancing in the Senate.
Other than energy and the associated climate change, what other types of environmental space do you see becoming closed or full most quickly, and
how could you address those through alternative development models
Water and food are key examples; if everybody doesn't aspire to eat as much meat, then you don't have the same
demands on land.
As one judge said, «This project shows
how achievable sustainable design can be in creating a bright and livable home connected to the outdoors, while integrating performance features that improve
water efficiency, indoor air quality, and energy
demand.»
Issues examined include: whether we really are facing a «Green» energy future or not; the rise of electric vehicles; the long term relevance to law firms of growing
demand for natural resources — including
water resources; and
how a global economy will
demand a far greater global transport infrastructure.
I would analogize that the articling process is similar to having taught someone the theory of
how to swim and then throwing them off the deep end into
water and
demanding they swim.
Food can be delivered at certain times of the day (or on
demand), sensors will tell you
how much your cat ate, you can monitor
water levels, and it will notify you if levels are running low.
