The first whole - genome analyses of ancient human DNA from Southeast Asia reveal that there were at least three major waves of
human migration into the region over the last 50,000 years.

Not only does this suggest modern
humans might have been stepping tentatively
into Europe and getting friendly with Neanderthals long before the wave of
migration that led to today's population, it shows Neanderthals were more diverse than we thought.

The reported slave auctions have raised questions about whether European Union
migration agreements meant to curb Mediterranean crossings are instead turning
human traffickers

Since the gene product of YME1 is a potent suppressor of mitochondrial DNA
migration into the genome of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Tiwari and Singh investigated the
human homologue of the YME1 gene, called YME1L1.
When
human YME1L1 was introduced
into yeast with the mutated YME1, the
human gene product partially rescued the YME1 mutation, preventing
migration of mitochondrial DNA
into the nucleus.
«We know that there are likely to have been at least two admixture events

The first ancient
human genome from Africa to be sequenced has revealed that a wave of
migration back
into Africa from Western Eurasia around 3,000 years ago affected the genetic make - up of populations across East Africa.
The modern
human ancestor who contributed genes to this particular Neanderthal individual — called the «Altai Neanderthal,» and known from a tiny toe bone fragment — must have migrated out of Africa long before the
migration that led Africans
into Europe and Asia 60,000 years ago, the scientists say.
The studies describe genetic diversity from typically understudied regions and together provide new insight
into the
migration of modern
humans out of Africa.
Nearly 50,000 years ago, Eurasians separated from Africans, experienced a bottleneck period during which their population was very low, and then splintered
into regional populations throughout Eurasia — the so - called out - of - Africa theory of
human migration.

Although the finding that shelter intake declined in association with the inception of the voucher program, the presence of extraneous (confounding) factors associated both with time and shelter intake can not be ruled out, including
migration into and out of the county (although the
human population actually increased during the study period).
