We ate plenty of homemade bread, fruit, pastured and grass fed meats, homegrown vegetables and fruits as much of the year as we could buy them, and some treats like homemade cookies and cakes and ice cream once in a while.

Again, that doesn't mean I wont have a piece of cake or ice cream / gelato every once and a while, it just means this isn't something I normally have on a regular basis, it is reserved for really special occasions.

Fun fact: I don't like chocolate, maybe a Kit Kat bar once in a while, but ice cream or cake, no thanks!

I made this cake http://joythebaker.com/2009/07/vegan-chocolate-avocado-cake/ once and took it to a work party and no one would have even noticed had I not topped it with the avocado buttercream (but I ran out and actually used coconut cream «icing» too... love that stuff!)

Meanwhile, time spent in the office is sweetened by thoughtful extras, such as «brownies, cakes or ice cream for the whole firm about once a month» and «strawberry tarts to cheer us up after the Brexit result!»
