the idea of a birth plan, you might want to reconsider whether this is the right caregiver for you.
The idea of a birth plan is to help those who come in contact with you know more about what you would like to see happen during the labor and birth of the baby.

During all
of my
planning for
birth, I never entertained the
idea of having a C - section, because I felt like it would jinx my
plan if I did.
I
plan to do some writing about questions to ask midwives, but I'll throw out a couple
of ideas: Ask her if giving
birth at home is just as safe as giving
birth in the hospital.

A lot
of thought and
planning for exactly how you want your labor to go is a good
idea, but keep in mind that as the hours drag out and progress is slower than you hoped for,
birth plans frequently have to change.

of all thing «birthy,» I have come across quite a number
of articles suggesting that
birth plans are a bad
idea, or in one seemingly bitter Obstetrician's opinion — «Worse than -LSB-...]
You've probably begun, or finished birthing classes now, and have a good
idea of your best case scenario
plan for
birth.
If you're hoping to have a natural
birth, it's a good
idea to
plan in advance how you want to manage the pain
of labor.
Women who
plan out -
of - hospital
birth to avoid obstetrical interventions now have important information on the associated rates
of perinatal complications, and those who choose hospital
birth to minimize their risks
of perinatal complications now have a better
idea of the magnitude
of the actual reduction in risk.
There are also plenty
of other things you may want to pack with you, a good
idea is to have at least a rough
birth plan and from there you can add some things in.
When I was pregnant with Hailey, I had no
idea what I was doing and when people would ask me what «my
birth plan» was, I would say, «Um... I
plan to have a baby,» and then I'd walk away because those people were clearly idiots, but then later I was reading the pregnancy books and apparently you're supposed to have a detailed
plan for the kind
of birth you want your child to have.
