For example, a standard related to
identifying the topic sentence may be arguably met as an isolated element, whereas a standard related to calculating square roots must be bundled with other math building blocks.
Not exact matches
But the
topic of the
sentence, the part of the
sentence that
identifies what the
sentence is about (often the same as the subject of the
sentence), is marked quite differently in each language.
In our own language, intonation helps us to
identify different kinds of
sentences and parts of
sentences, such as questions, conditionals, imperatives,
sentence topics, etc..

Identifying Parts Writing After students complete a writing assignment, give them a set of sticky notes on which to write: beginning, middle, ending, turning point, main idea,
topic sentence, etc..
The key here is to
identify the key characteristics of the subject of the essay and craft paragraphs with good
topic sentences that address each of those characteristics.
