It's difficult to blame Ozil for the difficulties he's faced at Arsenal without looking at the big picture... like the fans, he too was lied to by Wenger... there is no doubt in my mind that he was told by Wenger that he was trying desperately to recreate our earlier success by acquiring players that fit the system he ran when Henry was in his prime... as we know this hasn't happened... in order for Ozl to flourish he needs some speed up front, forwards that can make intelligent runs, a boss in the midfield to compensate for his obvious defensive liabilities and defenders who can transition from defence to offence quickly and efficiently... much like he had in Real and with the German National squad... unfortunately he ended up on a squad that has a striker who plays with his back to goal, very few intelligent runs into the box, minus Sanchez, no one to take pressure off him in the midfield, once Cazorla was injured, average defensive midfielders around him, which simply highlighted his lacking defensive qualities and defenders who lack the necessary cutting edge when it comes to transitional passing... instead of blaming Ozil, which is simply too easy, especially considering his mopey disposition, we should be asking ownership and / or Wenger why they brought him in if they didn't intend on doing what was necessary to get the best from him... can you imagine Ozil playing with the likes of Henry, Viera, Petit and Pires, it would be incredibly to watch and even more difficult to stop... so the only thing different between his experiences in Real and with the German team versus his time at Arsenal are the players around him and we all know who is in charge of making those decisions, the Grinch who stole soccer

It's obvious for me that arsenal need 4 players to become a world class team like bayern and real madrid i couldn't dare mention barcelona because they have unbelievable front three and they maybe the best attack in history of football we are lacking quality in the ST as well as the RW of course giroud and campvell are very good players but in my opinion they are less in quality than the rest of the team so we need to improve the quality in these positins About the DM it's a number issue and i think the position is covered with flamini doing good job and elneny coming which can be deployed there About the fourth signing we need is a center back I don't think i saw till now enough minutes for gabriel to tell if he can make the position his own or not But what makes me doubt him that wenger didn't choose him till now over per which means he is not miles ahead of him so i think we need a new better CB This team can go and fight for every thing even the champions leafue....
1) GK — better 2) LB — same, possibly better if Gibbs improves, Monreal has plateaued 3) RB — better as Bellerin will only improve 4) CB first pairing — same, as the BFG is getting older but he can't get shorter or slower, 5) CB second pairing — better since we didn't have a pair last year 6) DM — better as Arteta is now back up and Coquelin should get even better 7) Box to box — better if you think Ramsey and Wilshire still have room to improve and are still being kept out by Carloza 8) LW — better, Sanchez might not get too much better but Welbeck is an improvement on Podolski 9) RW — same if Theo moves up front but Ox and Gnabry have lots of room to improve 10) CAM — same 11) Striker — better as Giroud / Theo is stronger than Giroud / Sanogo
why was Sead not playing... if he's not better than the little engine that couldn't at left - back or Bellerin playing out of position, why did we get him in the first place... his size would have provided some much needed muscle against an undersized Liverpool front line while his speed would have made those in wide positions play more honestly... I still believe that Wenger was once again punishing the fans for not being satisfied with what had transpired so far in the current window... no matter what the reasons, the decision was indicative of the ineptitude of this manager against top ranked opponents
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
I can't stand welbeck for one reason he's not better than what we have but if you played a front two of welbeck and Sanchez then Cambpell left and Walcott or chaimbo right that would give us a huge counter attacking style with lots of skill and pace, but here is the problem to do this you need big strong DM to win the ball back when we defend and we do t have them, flaming is reckless and getting old, Arteta is good on the Bala but not quick or strong enough, please don't say Diaby as we all know he will be inj soon again, then also what to do with Ozil and Corzola?
Well im not in a wonderland he has his failings as we all do and great teams find a way to win good teams sit where we are 6 -5-4 but thats besides the point and it would be nice if your aunty had bolocks cause then we d be second but ive watched the games were an offensive team most the time although were terrible in the pissing rain but for the most part the game plans have worked weve created chances quality scoring chances one after the other problem is for me the finishing unless we sit back with 9 man behind the ball or ten when you push forward you will give up a goal if you lousy forwards fail to finish the set ups have been there this year but our strikers have failed to kill the games if we create quality chances and grab leads in the first 60 minutes like we have for the most part and in those games those games should of been killed even if we give a goal or two alongside the strategy but we failed to hit multiple should be goals we tried laca we'll see abou auba although hes a bit lazy so far but we'll see but we've lacked that quality in front goal a player the chances have been there im looking at the failure of the strikers and maybe that is his fault but monreal has scored as many goals recently as our strikers and thats sad our defenders or a midfielder will score and our stikers cant tally one in th first 60 mins of a game alongside them then were tired for last 40 give them hope there still only down one and we rue our missed chances while they push thats where iv been frustrated with this season not the tactics but the finishing
But if either a veteran like 6» 5 senior Shawn Poindexter or a youngster like 6» 4 freshman Drew Dixon or 6» 5 freshman Bryce Gilbert can provide an occasional post-up threat on the outside, this offense should have what it needs: size up front, multiple exciting dual - threats behind center, and a stable of dynamite backs.
If you look at Monreal, who is a solid defender most of the time, he essentially plays the wingback position as if he is a full back in a 4 -3-3, that doesn't work bacuae it leaves Sanchez or whoever plays in front of him too isolated and doesn't put enough pressure on the defenderIf you look at Monreal, who is a solid defender most of the time, he essentially plays the wingback position as if he is a full back in a 4 -3-3, that doesn't work bacuae it leaves Sanchez or whoever plays in front of him too isolated and doesn't put enough pressure on the defenderif he is a full back in a 4 -3-3, that doesn't work bacuae it leaves Sanchez or whoever plays in front of him too isolated and doesn't put enough pressure on the defenders.
Alexis should also be very high on the shortlist to be included in your fantasy team, as he is relishing his new role in the side, but there is the possibility that Olivier Giroud could well be selected to play up front now he has returned to fitness, and the Chilean could suffer if he is benched or put back in his previous role.
players like Ozil always present the fans with a bit of a conundrum, especially when times are tough... if you look around the sporting world every once in awhile there emerges a player with incredible skill, like Ozil, Matt Sundin or even Jay Cutler, who have a different way about themselves... their movement seemed almost too lackadaisical, so much so that it seemed to suggest indifference or even disinterest on the part of the player... their posture always appears somewhat mopey and they generally have an unflattering «sour puss» expression on their face... for some their above average skills are enough to keep them squarely in the mix, as their respective teams try desperately to find a way to get the best out of them visa vie player acquisitions or the reworking of tactics... when things go according to planned the fans usually find a way to accept their unique disposition, whereas when things go awry they become easy targets for fans and pundits alike... in the case of Ozil and Sundin, their successes on the international stage and / or with their former teams led many to conclude that if we surrounded such talented individuals with players that have those skills that would most likely bring the best of these players success would surely follow... unfortunately both the Maple Leafs and our club chose to adopt half - measures, as each were being run by corporations who valued profitability over providing the best possible product on the field... for them, they cared more about shirt sales and season tickets than doing whatever was necessary... this isn't, by any stretch, an attempt to absolve Ozil of any responsibility for his failures on the pitch... there is no doubt oftentimes his efforts were underwhelming, to say the least, but this club has been inept when it comes to providing this prolific passer with the kind of players necessary for him to flourish... with our poor man's version of Benzema up front, the headless chickens in Walcott, the younger Ox and Welbeck occupying wide positions far too often and the fact that Carzola, who provided Ozil with great service and more freedom to roam, was never truly replaced, the only real skilled outlet on the pitch was Sanchez... remember to be considered a world - class set - up man goals need to be scored and for much of his time here he has been surrounded by some incredibly inept finishers... in the end, I'm not sure how long he will be in North London, recent sentiments and his present contract situation seem to suggest that he will depart at season's end, but how tragic would it be if once again we didn't put our best foot forward and failed to make those moves that could have brought championship football back to our once beloved club... so when you think about this uniquely skilled player don't be so quick to shift all the blame on his shoulders because he will not be the first or the last highly skilled player to find disappointment at the Emirates if we don't rid the club of those individuals that are truly to blame for our current woes
Maryland brings back it's own talented sophomores, and while we lost Melo, we added players in positions of need (front court) from last year, as well as depth and toughness, which we clearly needed, so a drop off might happen or not, but it should be slight if it does.
Walcott is inj, if he was fit he would play right Sanchez left and welbeck up front, if Ramsey or Wiltshire would play DM I would pair them with Arteta, then ozil behind the striker just my opinion To play ozil or corzola wide is a waste of a player as they won't track back and have little pace
Arsene Wenger could soon be running out of possible transfer targets that would give Arsenal the competition or cover up front that many think is essential — if the Gunners are going to be able to wrestle the Premier League back to north London once again.
But if we had someone solid in front of the back three, Arsenal could use Coquelin, Ramsey, Xhaka, Cazorla or Ox in a midfield of three and two strikers, Sanchez, Lacazette or Giroud.
he shouldn't start he should slowly be integrated back in, we don't want a repeat of last time when he injured himself soon after his comeback plus we have the players needed to do the job up front, he can always come off the bench if he is needed or the game is already won!!
Gleeson: He should either come out, tell them to let go and get the ball, or if he told them to go for the ball (I think he didn't say a thing) he should have stayed back, he didn't, he was 2 steps too far in front of the goal.
It seems as though United are either brilliant defensively and toothless up front, or cagey at the back and prolific at the other end, if their performances over the last few weeks are anything to go by.
I could possibly have understood it if (1) he was trying to squeeze Kodjia back in (although even there I wouldn't have agreed and think he could rotate those front 4 into 3 slots and use the other as an impact sub, depending on the opposition, fitness etc.); or (2) didn't have an option at no. 10, but Jack is sitting there and ready and, if only lasts for 60 mins, Calum could have replaced him.
When Arsenal went in front, I thought this could be two or three and they had those opportunities to put it to two or three, but unfortunately did not take them and you know in the Premier League that if you do not take your opportunities then someone will come back and bite you on the backside.
Man Utd Preview: Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney up front makes for a mouth watering partnership They netted 57 league goals between them last season, as if they hit somewhere near their individual targets from last term, United are going to be formidable United are a pretty solid all round side, there still looks to be a nod towards rebuilding for another season or so when they should really flourish and probably get back on top of Europe.
He didn't show a similar explosive streak in his work through the centre against Palace, but if Rooney can become a dangerous presence between the lines, his defensive flaws could be worth the hassle, or at least earn him the time to work on his weaknesses as a midfielder by contributing to creating attacks from in front of the back four.
He lacks concentration defensively, his tackling is erratic and he doesn't cover as much ground as Jack - not as big an issue if his role is to play in front of the back four or five.
