With this in mind, my work is as much about the process of painting as it is about the final image.
I wanted to strip away the negative images that the local media created in my mind about African Americans in my hometown, therefore each photograph I made got me closer to my future self, to becoming what I needed in order to simply be.
What is that image that we create in our mind when thinking about a work of art?

When painting, Lorca is interested in realism in the sense of rescuing traditional painting itself, beyond what is painted: «First I think about what I'm about to paint, spontaneously I get the images of something that brings me a certain sensation, then comes the object to my mind and I always have a visual record of things that have caught my attention.
