I just see no point in having substitutions if they fail to have any time to
impact the game, jose had all three of his
subs on before the 70th minute I think yesterday, drogba almost turned it
around because ANYONE who has played football before can tell you that having 5 - 10 is usually not enough time to get settled or make direct contribution whereas 15 - 25 minutes can change the game.
But Milner is a serious
impact sub and all
around damn good player.
I would be telling Theo to never stop moving, to burn out the oppositions def and tell him straight that he will be
subbed for Nelson at
around 60 mins and if he wants to start in the next game ahead of Nelson then he has to have an positive
impact on the game and to tire the def out.
If Wenger had been proactive with his
subs, (a) they would have had more time to make an
impact, instead of being thrown on when we were desperate and the game was frantic, and (b) they would have come into a team who were looking ok and just needed a bit of cutting edge
around the box.
