This project, which spanned the coast from Santa Barbara to San Diego, sought to reestablish historic kelp beds along the Southern California coast and to educate the public about
the importance of kelp forests to the marine environment.
[3] The
importance of this contribution has been rapidly acknowledged within the scientific community and has prompted an entirely new trajectory
of kelp forest research, particularly emphasizing the potential for a spatial refuge from climate change also the explanations to evolutionary patterns
of kelps worldwide.
