«By looking comprehensively at
gene expression within cells, we can now spot numerous
important differences in complex tissues like the brain that are invisible today,» said George Church, Ph.D., a Core Faculty member at the Wyss Institute and Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School.
This information is not only
important because it can now help scientists try to understand how the
differences between queen and worker may arise through interactions among
genes, but also for the evolution of ants, and
in the evolution of
gene expression more generally.
