Therefore,
climate change may have a more negative
effect on the biological diversity
of animals than previously assumed,» says Schleuning, and he adds, «A consideration
of biotic interactions between animals and plants is therefore
important for predicting the impacts
of climate change on biodiversity.»
When studying the
effect of climate change on biodiversity, it is
important to consider the
climate near the ground (microclimate) which a plant or an animal actually experiences.
Jack added: «Dust is one
of the most
important aerosols for both the
climate and the biology
of an environment, and so understanding the amount
of dust produced, and the distance and direction it travels is vital to allow us to understand its
effect better.»

important for the carbon transport to the deep ocean — and thus for the ability

important during the preparatory negotiations leading up to the Paris Agreement that came into

In the book, Conway and science historian Naomi Oreskes contend that with
climate change there was even a «Potemkin village»
effect created by disbelievers who «replaced science with its opposite» because
of their concerns that environmental regulations would harm the free market and damage
important business interests.
«This is
important for being able to predict years

important for modeling the
effect of aerosols on
climate.
Now if this was the 1980s they might have had a point, but the fact that aerosols are an
important climate forcing, have a net cooling
effect on
climate and, in part, arise from the same industrial activities that produce greenhouse gases, has been part
of mainstream science for 30 years.
Thus it is very
important to know what the real impact
of historical solar changes is, as 0.1 K in the past, results in
climate sensitivity for anthropogenic at the high end, while 0.9 K results in a very low
effect of anthropogenic, if the instrumental temperature trend
of the last 1.5 century is used as reference.
There have been all sorts
of reasons proposed for past changes, but the
important thing is that the geological record shows that the
climate is sensitive to various factors and it is this which makes it plausible that human influence can
effect climate.
It is
important to note that any potential
effects will be spatially and temporally variable, depending on current forest conditions, local site characteristics, environmental influences, and annual and decadal patterns
of climate variability, such as the El Niño - Southern Oscillation cycle, which can drive regional weather and
climate conditions.
While the warming atmosphere and higher humidity can provide more energy for these storms, the

effect so many

Unfortunately for policymakers and the public, while the basic science pointing to a rising human influence on
climate is clear, many
of the most
important questions will remain surrounded by deep complexity and uncertainty for a long time to come: the pace at which seas will rise, the extent
of warming from a certain buildup
of greenhouse gases (
climate sensitivity), the impact on hurricanes, the particular
effects in particular places (what global warming means for Addis Ababa or Atlanta).

important to fight the efforts
of demagogs to claim that uncertainties about
climate change and its
effects are reason for inaction.

of the more complicated
effects.
Secondly it seems really
important to me for the wider discussion (beyond just the topic
of this thread) that some estimate
of the «uncertain» potentiating
effect of predicted temperature increases be provided and integrated with the

important distinction would be the ~ linear response to forcing [which we are observing now] and more non-linear

pg xiii This Policymakers Summary aims to bring out those elements
of the main report which have the greatest relevance to policy formulation, in answering the following questions • What factors determine global
climate 7 • What are the greenhouse gases, and how and why are they increasing 9 • Which gases are the most
important 9 • How much do we expect the
climate to change 9 • How much confidence do we have in our predictions 9 • Will the
climate of the future be very different 9 • Have human activities already begun to change global
climate 9 How much will sea level rise 9 • What will be the
effects on ecosystems 9 • What should be done to reduce uncertainties, and how long will this take 9 This report is intended to respond to the practical needs
of the policymaker.

important thing to understand is that essentially all
of the
climate effects of methane emissions disappear within 20 years
of cessation
of emissions; in this sense, the
climate harm caused by methane leakage is reversible.
The other thing that I think is really
important to watch is the possibility
of a
climate deal with China, and that could be really, really
important, because you've basically got the two
climate change superpowers finally coming together on this, and if they created some kind
of an agreement to limit emissions, even that could have the de facto
effect of creating a global carbon price.
(This essay is supplementary to the core essay on The Carbon Dioxide Greenhouse
Effect For the most
important greenhouse gas, water vapor, see the essay on Simple Models

of the items on this list are
important, and I'm keeping a close watch on # 5 - we need carbon pollution standards for coal - fired power plant to protect our planet from the worsening
effects of climate disruption.

It is also
important to note that the models are not designed to project
climate on a decadal basis, but on a centennial basis, where the
effects of internal variability can more reasonably be expected to average out.
Per molecule they actually exert a warming
effect that is thousands
of times as strong as that
of CO2 [that remains the most
important contributor to
climate change, simply because we emit such enormous amounts
of it].
