important issue for Indigenous people to adequately address the challenges arising from climate change is the need to understand what climate change is and:

An increasingly
important issue within the education sphere is the acknowledgement of the role that culture plays in improving educational outcomes

issues of significance to
Indigenous peoples.
On other
important Indigenous health
issues, Croakey covered the launch of the Lowitja Institute's «Recognise health» initiative, a project that supports constitutional recognition as a pathway to better health and wellbeing
for Aboriginal people.
This research highlights two
important areas: the need to incorporate social, cultural, political
issues within economic development strategies
for Indigenous communities and; the opportunity to develop models of development that do not focus on traditional economic outcomes but can also focus on social and cultural development outcomes.
The final part of the paper also identifies a series of

important to consider in establishing a National
Indigenous Representative Body, such as the guiding principles, role and functions, structure and membership, its relationship with governments and parliaments and, of course, funding
for such a body.

In my view, Fiona Stanley identified these
issues perfectly in her speech in this venue last week when she said that Governments are not taking enough responsibility
for health and social outcomes in Aboriginal communities, are rarely held accountable
for shortcomings in critical services, and fail to treat
Indigenous organisations as an
important part of the solution.1
