advocacy efforts to address childhood adversity and to prevent the potential precipitants of toxic stress responses are certainly warranted, so are efforts to
improve the capacity of caregivers and communities to promote the safe, stable, and nurturing relationships that assist in turning off the child's physiologic stress in response to adversity.59, 64 However, preliminary data indicate that the level of adversity and risk factors in mothers participating in home visiting programs is very high (
