Without question,
the improved character models look significantly better than they did originally.
The cutscenes that fully replaced the cheesy 1996 originals are a mixed bag, the ones that use the new and
improved character models look great but the shorter ones, like when you see the Tyrant for the first time are like someone's just slathered Vaseline over your eyeballs.

Character models have also been
improved, as you can see
looking at the skin and the hair of Nathan Drake, which are now way more detailed.
I love those games, I really do, but I swear that apart from reducing pop - up, getting rid of distance fogging and
improving character models a little, the latest entires for PS4 and Xbox One
look much the same as the PS2 releases I first fell in love with.
The
character models look better than before, some of the animations have been
improved and the fight is more visual overall.
Obviously it doesn't literally
look like a ps2 game... It was a metaphor, and the main structure of a game should be fixed a year out from release, textures and stuff will
improve ofc but it's very rare the
character models and game world assets get more polygons etc so the game won't
look just like what they showed us but what the final thing should
look like should be something you can imagine based on what they showed us.

The remade graphics make the games
look right at home on PS4,
improved textures,
character and enemy
models look more detailed, environments are more vibrant and colourful than they have ever been.
Visually, the details of the textures,
character models and lighting have been
improved across the board, and even though it's still not a particularly good
looking game, the excellent animation work for the powerful weapon / class skills as well as the various imposing monsters shines through.
There are some spots where it
looks like concessions had to be made for this game to get back - ported to the PS3 (or since that's where they started, they could only
improves the graphics in a limited scope in order to retain parity with the PS4 version), and you'll see it in the NPC
character models.
Sure, that's not saying much, since the series is known for great
looking character models and yet brings forth bland environments, but this version takes it up a notch, with sharper, detailed
character models,
improved textures, more enemies onscreen than ever before, and silky smooth gameplay.
Character models look far superior to their last - gen counterparts, draw distance is dramatically
improved and the lighting is some of the best we've seen on these new machines so far.
Character models haven't
improved much and still
look muddy most of the time, but they now animate more fluidly.
If you're worried about the graphics and
look of some of the
characters, don't be too frightened — since the trailer's release, director Yu Suzuki has confirmed that these are only temporary
models and will be
improved as time goes forward.
