Well, it's finally official... apes will be coming back to the big screen in 2011.

In truth, the deeply absorbing and thematically rich «Apes» sequel is more akin to a drama than an action film, but it's one that still satisfies the desires and demands of big, blockbuster filmmaking.

Director Tim Pope, making his big screen debut, does little more than ape the quick - edit style Alex Proyas used in the original film; his idea of a fresh touch is lingering on S&M kinks which, quite frankly, are boring.
