It seems they have gotten this problem fixed, but I see no point in pulling anything now that I'm established
in the Pubit system.

In a Fail that makes the keyword screw up (still not fixed, btw) seem like small potatoes, last night, many
Pubit authors, myself included, became aware that our books were marked as Public Domain (and -LSB-...]
When I signed the
PubIt contract, I was able to read all the clauses and all the details and see what I was signing,
IN the document, BEFORE I signed.
I recently self - published on Amazon, and was interested
in publishing on
Pubit too.

PUBIT was first released
in 2010, there has not been a single new enhancement added.
Many authors use the Amazon platform
in conjunction with other self - publishing companies such as Barnes and Noble

In the meantime, I'm very thankful to the retailers — the wonderful people at
PubIt!
We have covered
PubIT extensively throughout its closed beta to the official release
in October of 2011.
Last October, Borders had also entered the self publishing genre by setting up Borders Publishing
in conjunction with Book Brewer which was
in line with Amazon's Digital Text Publishing Platform or the B&N's
PubIT program.
I think perhaps you either stumbled across a listing that was
in flux because the author has uploaded to
Pubit and they've combined listings (the whole process at
Pubit seems to involve merging listings before the Smashwords one disappears), or perhaps you've gotten ahold of of some listings where there are other versions like a print or audio edition that did not have the description limitation.
Mark kindly came back
in comments and verified that it absolutely is a separate deal and does not have the restrictions that they have at
Pubit.
Be one of the new generation of writers, spend the time and learn how to format a book
in word for Kindle,
Pubit, and Smashwords.
This was super helpful
in my decision to use
PubIt or Smashwords!

Barnes and Noble released a new program last year called
PubIT, which allowed independant authors to create eBooks and have them listed
in the Barnes and Noble eBook store.
I've published my books through the Big Six
in New York, and I was shocked when
PubIt!
In an effort to review the process, I took a document of my own that I had posted to Kindle Direct Publishing and
PubIt!
PubIT incidentally is the independent publishing program B&N offers
in order for first time authors or aspiring writers to submit their content to be sold
in the companies ebookstore.
I was told by Theresa Horner, who is the spearhead of self - publishing that
PUBIT never received any big updates and did not get enhanced
in over three years.
Once everything is showing up as it should (and you've verified by saving and reopening
in Sigil), THEN go upload the Epub file to
Pubit!
Also, why would an author sign up to
pubit when using Smashwords once means they get their books on Smashwords site,
in B&N, on Apple's ibookstore,
in Sony and
in Kobo?
I considered just changing the license and version information and uploading that, but I wasn't sure if it would have the code that BN mentions
in their style guide, so instead, I took my Smashwords source file and ran it through
Pubit!
It's good to keep
in mind that services like
PubIt!
Keith, I have a book
in processing with
PubIt right now and it contains both an email address to the publisher and a link to my website on the copyright page, so I guess I'll soon find out if that violates their terms.
I just wanted to mention that B&N /
Pubit want to have world wide rights
in their contract, even if they are only
in the US.
Also,
PubIt's terms also state: «Please be aware that the following content is unacceptable and submitting or posting said content
in your eBook file, cover image, or product data will result
in immediate termination of your account: Advertisements: Material contained within your eBook that primarily seeks to sell a product other than the eBook itself...» and «Hyperlinks of any kind, including email addresses... Advertisements or promotional material» (even for the author's other books!)

Barnes and Noble is organizing events with the
PubIt program that invites self - published authors to participate
in panels and answer questions.
We believe that the
PubIt software is a firm digital step forward
in Barnes and Noble's mentality.
The move comes on the heels of Kobo's recent announcement that it is also taking on competitors Amazon KDP and Barnes & Noble's
PubIt in the free, self - publishing space.
B&N's
Pubit is distressing parochial and really not competing
in meaningful ways — like making things better for authors or indeed, readers.
By removing the book from the KDP program, I can also pursue selling the book
in iBooks, Kobo and Barnes and Noble
PubIt.
In the early days of November I first uploaded my titles to B&N's «
pubit» system to sell directly on B&N.
Since switching from Smashwords to
PubIt, I've sold well over 10 times the number of copies
in less than two months.
In the fall of 2010, B&N launched
PubIt!
In other words, if you have your work for sell through Amazon's KDP, Barnes & Noble's
PubIt and through Smashwords, you have to price your work at the same price.
That initial burst of sales via
PubIt has just slowed
in December, but November was awesome at BN.
To make matters worse, several commenters» best advice was to log
in with old
PubIt!
When we bring a new book into existence, I focus on the bigger houses
in this order: Kindle first (they sell most), then
Pubit (Nook reader, or its replacement) for Barnes & Noble, then Smashwords (so I can get into Apple, but we've also reached Kobo, Sony, and Diesel that way too), all with the same ebook Word file.
