Long ago, I shed the notion of legal as a hallowed profession as early
in my career, I managed dozens of claims
at the same time and was essentially a highly functioning process manager — steering counter-parties
in a
certain direction until ultimately there was nowhere else to go but to negotiate a settlement or present a case.
