in the hospital, and are a necessity for all sorts of child - rearing issues whether baby
diaper explosions
in the bed, milk leaking through the night, fearing my water will break on the mattress, or
even bed
wetting in my older boys (maybe
even for heavy menses and of course, postpartum bleeding).
You can
even use prefold
diapers your child has outgrown to stuff
in the pocket for extra protection or for a heavier
wetter.
Although a child left
in a
wet or soiled
diaper for too long is more likely to develop
diaper rash, any child with sensitive skin can get a rash,
even if you're diligent about
diaper changes.

Not only was my son uninterested
in using the potty, it didn't
even bother him when his
diapers or underwear were
wet.
It's great for a small baby (it's the way you can fit this
diaper on a newborn
even though you can't adjust the elastic
in the waist), but it's also great for wrapping the
diaper around itself and securing it when it's dirty and you're out and you forgot your
wet bag.
Even after my daughter
wets them (well the nighttime
diapers still smell subtly of ammonia, but nothing that hits me or burns my nose
in the morning!).
I wash
diapers about every 3 days, hold them
in a
wet bag
in baby's room (with a zipper to contain any smells) and it's so easy I barely
even think about it.

If it is not time yet, you will notice your child continuing to
wet his or her pants, having bowel movements
in their
diaper or training pants or
even holding it and refusing to go at all.
Now with a
wet bag I just throw the whole thing
in the wash and don't
even touch the dirty
diapers — perfect!
When I have the sitters use pocket
diapers, I don't
even ask them to take out the insert before putting them
in the
wet bag, and I won't make them use the
diaper sprayer either.
Instead of just being absorbent
in the
wet zone, a fitted
diaper is absorbent over the entire
diaper (
even the tabs).
But the my favorite reason to go coverless
in the summer is that it's nice and cool on your baby's bum because it allows the
diaper to breathe
even when
wet.
Even if you have to give up some extra zzz's at night, don't let your baby sleep
in a
wet or soiled
diaper.
REASON # 2: I ended up putting the
diaper on it's smallest setting as soon as it would fit him, but the
diaper alone is NOT absorbent enough (just like 1 contour alone was not absorbent enough, at least for a heavy
wetter like mine) This means I have to snap
in the contours and again, SO BULKY,
even now at 14 lbs.
