award), or use the BA «stopover» feature, which allows you to connect to a final destination
in a city
in the UK.
American AAdvantage miles can not be transferred directly to
partners for use, so you'll likely have to find the flights you are interested
in booking and call American Airlines to
book your
award ticket.
Thanks to Korean Air's SkyTeam
partner, you can
book an
award flight on Air France
in economy class from Los Angeles (LAX) to Tahiti (PPT) for 60,000 Korean Air SkyPass miles.
You can
book airline
awards on Turkish Airlines or Lufthansa via Star Alliance
partners such as United, using 70,000 United miles each way
in business class or 30,000 miles
in economy.
My
partner and I were able to
book two low - level
award tickets leaving Thursday evening on a non-stop and returning Sunday morning with a connection
in Detroit.
The Iberia website has recently added more of its airline
partners for online
award searches, though there are a few you still need to call
in to search and
book.

United is
in the Star Alliance network, which means it has many other airline
partners whose members can use their miles to
book flights operated by United when a saver
award is available.
For those still interested
in trying out the airline,
awards between New Zealand and Asia tend to be more available for
booking through
partners.
In order to
book any
partner awards with Virgin Atlantic miles, you are going to have to get on the phone.
Offer does not apply to non-revenue travel (e.g., travel
booked with a travel certificate, TrueBlue
award flights, etc.); is not valid
in connection with
partner or codeshare or interline flights, JetBlue Vacations packages, cruises, or any other product or service; may not be combined with other special offers; is not redeemable for cash; and has no cash value.
Finally, those who hope to
book some of the most luxurious
awards on
partner Singapore Airlines will find their attempts thwarted: any
award in this carrier's first class cabin on an Airbus A380 or Boeing 777 - 300ER is blocked
in the system.
Of course, some frequent flyer program members might have simply overlooked available flights given the complaint regarding poor search tools, number four on the list, and the difficulty (including flights not showing up
in a search)
in booking awards on
partner airlines, a peeve that rounded out the top five.
I think ANA definitely offers the most oppurtunity but both Aeroplan and Singapore Airlines can really come
in handy when you need to
book one way
awards on Star Alliance
partners.
As mentioned
in the Travel Goals example
in Chapter 4, we can use our miles to
book award travel, not just with the airline with which we have our miles, but also with any of their alliance
partners or other
partner airlines.
Awards booked through American Airlines using AAdvantage Miles don't come with surcharges... but that's not the case if you plan to use the miles for travel on a number of American's airline
partners — make sure you factor
in these surcharges when working out just how good a deal an
award booking is.

partner award search on either United or ANA's website, then call
in to complete the
booking.
One of the biggest complaints with Korean Air for the longest time was that you couldn't search or
book partner awards online and had to go through a burdensome process of calling
in and mailing forms
in to make
partner award bookings.
