The red glow
in the center of each disk is a young, newly formed star, roughly one million years old (compared to the 4.5 billion year age of the Sun).

in the fridge to keep cool.
The
disk of dough is rolled out, rolled over the rolling pin,
centered in the pie plate and the blueberry filling is added.
The study appears to vindicate predictions from theorists such as Mark Morris, an astrophysicist at the University
of California, Los Angeles, who
in 1993 penned a key paper predicting tens
of thousands
of stellar - mass black holes would form a
disk around the galactic
center.
Flashes
of X-ray light near the
center of the
disk result
in light echoes that allow astronomers to map the structure
of the funnel - like flow, revealing for the first time strong gravity effects around a normally quiescent black hole.
In Randall and Reece's model
of this dark matter
disk, they found that Earth travels through the
disk on a regular schedule, oscillating above and below the galaxy's equator while orbiting the galactic
center.
The resulting
disk has a series
of vibrational «modes,» rather like resonances
in a tuning fork, that might be excited by small disturbances — think
of a planet - forming stellar
disk nudged by a passing star or

disk in which material is falling into the
center unevenly.
Systems like TW Hydrae contain so much gas that the instability is suppressed, but it could arise
in relatively gas - free regions near the
center of the
disk.
«All we need to produce narrow rings and other structures
in our models
of debris
disks is a bit
of gas, too little for us to detect today
in most actual systems,» said co-author Marc Kuchner, an astrophysicist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight
Center in Greenbelt, Md..
If you aim your left eye's blind spot on the
center of a yellow doughnut, you will see a yellow
disk instead
of a ring; the yellow fills
in.
Ancient Ingredients Flakes rich
in calcium and aluminum, as old as the solar system itself, probably originated
in the hot
center of the flattened, spinning
disk of gas and dust that gave rise to our sun and its planets.
A near - twin
of our Milky Way, Andromeda contains at least 100 billion stars
in a flattened
disk of spiral arms, calmly orbiting a round bulge
of stars
in the
center.
The greenish glow
in the
center of Io's
disk is thought to be caused by high - speed particles that batter the moon's atmospheric oxygen or sodium gas — the particles are trapped
in Jupiter's powerful magnetic field.
At the same time, the gas
in the galaxy
disks loses its angular momentum via viscous process associated with gas mixture, and falls into the gravitational
center of the merger.
Take a gigantic cloud
of hydrogen laced with traces
of heavier elements, let a star or two coalesce
in the
center and stir the remainder just enough for a protoplanetary
disk to form.
Nesvold and her colleague Marc Kuchner, an astrophysicist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight

Kalas and two
of his co-authors, astronomy professor James Graham
of U.C. Berkeley and astrophysicist Mark Clampin
of the NASA Goddard Space Flight

in 2005 that Fomalhaut should harbor planet - size objects
in its orbit, based on the
disk of dust ringing the star.
The joint research team led by graduate student and JSPS fellow Takuma Izumi at the Graduate School
of Science at the University
of Tokyo revealed for the first time — with observational data collected by ALMA (Atacama Large Millimeter / submillimeter Array),
in Chile, and other telescopes — that dense molecular gas
disks occupying regions as large as a few light years at the
centers of galaxies are supplying gas directly to the supermassive black holes.

She has demonstrated that accretion
disks in the
center of active galaxies lie at random angles relative to their host galaxies.
Resembling a gigantic hubcap
in space, a 3,700 light - year - diameter dust
disk encircles a 300 million solar - mass black hole
in the
center of the elliptical galaxy NGC 7052.
The highest - energy cosmic rays are not deflected much by the weak magnetic fields
in our Galaxy, yet they do not arrive preferentially from the
disk of the Milky Way or the side
of the sky toward the
center of the Galaxy.
Like other spiral galaxies, the Milky Way Galaxy, has a bright
disk of stars with sweeping arms
of conspicously younger, brighter, and bluer stars enveloped
in gas and dust that curve around its
center like the arms
of a huge pinwheel.
Most galaxies
in the observable universe contain a supermassive black hole at their
center, one that is either active and surrounded by an accretion
disk of dust, gas and other debris, or is dormant — lurking at the
center, patiently awaiting its next meal.
We marginally confirm the existence
of an offset between the
disk center and the star along the line
of nodes; however, the magnitude
of this offset (x = 27 -LSB--20, +19] mas) is notably lower than that found
in our earlier H - band images (Thalmann et al. 2010).
Because gravity depends upon mass, you might think that most
of a galaxy's mass would lie
in the galactic
disk or near the
center of the
disk.

Our Sun, much closer to us than any other star, lies
in the
disk (which is why the
disk appears edge - on to us) at a distance
of about 28,000 light years from the
center.

Each successive lens was slightly closer to the

Having a customized console is kind
of nice, but can often run up an already hefty price tag for something that's just going to sit on the shelf
in your entertainment
center, seldom looked at but for the times you need to switch
disks or fiddle with the power cord.

A paper that presented data from Google's data
centers found that flash - based solid - state drives found that SSDs were much less likely to completely fail than mechanical hard drives: «The annual replacement rates
of hard
disk drives have previously been reported to be 2 - 9 %, which is high compared to the 4 - 10 %
of flash drives we see being replaced
in a 4 year period.»
