We established ourselves
with shelters and veterinarians
in Florida and Georgia, found a few wonderful families willing to care for (foster) the pups until they were ready for adoption, and became known as one of the few small
dog rescue organizations willing to take the seniors, the
special needs, the abused to the point of aggression, and the babies
needing extreme medical care.
I grew up
with toy poodles but have fostered almost every breed out there over the years, specializing
in shy and
special need dogs.
Our Foster Barn, operated
in partnership
with Gainesville Pet Rescue, is a very
special place for
dogs and puppies who
need just a little extra time and attention to get ready for their forever homes.
Dogs coming
in with behavioural problems, trauma or injuries are settled cared for and re-habilitated before re-homing; while those
with special needs or disabilities are kept
in long term foster care until a suitable home, that can offer them what they
need, comes along.
Keep
in mind that the nutritional requirement is very different for the
