in eink reading experiences, Kobo Aura HD provides a premium reading experience for the discerning reader.
The ability to annotate, highlight, and share one's thoughts with others have been limited
in these eink devices because of the slowness in which eink renders.
Amazon really has no more competition
in the eInk space, so that means they can set the price standard as they see fit.
Obviously, since you are completely unaware of the variations
in eInk Pearl screens, an issue important enough for tons of people to return their Kindles, it's not as if you're perfect.
There's been no significant jump
in eInk technology other than the touch screen (I'd argue that's a pretty big jump in itself — from book to book + journal.

This is 2012 circa «epson tech» and hence makes the lack of direction / innovation
in the eink even more apparent.
When this yotaphone trend will be «tabletized» company like Samsung and Apple etc will invest milions
in eink kinda technologies and eink with color will go in production (eink last but tablet not... so the cycle of life of the product will be shorter).
I think that, the promoter might dislike reading a book

At night, I turn the brightness down all the way, and the Kindle app has an invert mode where it puts white on black background instead of black on white background, so it's pretty dark, and I found that a pretty comfortable experience and certainly preferable to my previous way of reading

I never heard of a route update where they send people to a bus stop??? Here maybe once a year a route chages that they hav to put up a temp poster but that is so seldom it will be a waste of money to do

yes,
eink lasts a lot longer, but this will be more a professional device than a casual device and as such battery life of a day is sufficient
in most use scenarios.
Because the biggest power drain on mobile devices tends to be the screen,
eInk is a big win
in battery conservation.
I have used my
eInk Kindle with my kids, but there's no doubt they'll be more interested
in the Kindle Fire with its gorgeous color touch display.

eink with the backlighting, allowing me to read
in bed without bothering my wife needing a lamp on.

The etching that they did on it makes it just as easily readable
in direct sunlight as the Paperwhite and other

The screen refresh rate might become annoying but I was getting used to the

There really isn't much need for improvement
in the basic
eink technology — it is a single - function device that does its job very well.
Keep
in mind that Amazon's
eInk e-readers only have greyscale displays.
The only reason I want color
eInk is because it will allow books with colorful graphics to be shown
in all their glory on my favorite reading device.

eInk e-reader and e-books through a Japan - specific Kindle Store

People who get dedicated eReaders with
eInk are people who read more and thus want to avoid the eyestrain associated with staring at a screen on a mobile phone or tablet, so they can read longer comfortably, without their eyes getting strained from the light shining
in their eyes and getting refreshed countless times a second.
A well printed article has per page equivalent resolution
in the 10 - 20Mpix, which is order of magnitude above the current crop of 13 ″
eInk panels, glass or plastic.

I really like to sit
in my truck and read so the
eInk is the best.
Finally, this ideal
eink will need a few (3 +) colors — BTW, since 20 yrs possible
in the lab, yet not
in product (courtesy of e-Ink's monopoly?)
Once
eink in that size comes down
in price it could be used
in a lot of cases.
Maybe its the combination of the lighting layer with the
eink — kind of like when sony put front light on the prs - 600 and the screen felt blury (they never put front light
in any of their ereaders since then, probably they can't get the by tech right).
If E Ink wants to sell more displays (not sure about that) to consumers the only advantage is
in 13 inch — reading documents, study books, journals, sheet music... But after 5 years of showing large screens
EInk got tired and is shifting focus to business and corporate world.

eInk Holdings is the worst thing that has happened to the EPD as a field and market.
Perhaps Amazon is waiting on
einks new Mx7 processor
in order to roll out a new update, if true this might cause a pushback and delay a release.
Granted, an
eInk ereader device will work well
in school libraries where as you can load up titles on devices and loan the device.
It features a 6 - inch
eInk display hidden within a tri-fold keyboard complete with «generously sized» keys set
in a Japanese layout.
Kindle 2 has little competition because WhisperNet, WhisperSync, the
eInk screen, the upcoming Kindle Mobile, and the range of products
in the Kindle Store combine to create the best eReading experience currently available.
An ereader is based on an
eInk display (not lcd) and has a batter life measured
in weeks.
But I'm here to tell you that visual reading experience with the new Paperwhite display is not just a home run, it's a walk - off grand slam, due to the combination of gorgeous hand - crafted font and font size choices, heightened resolution provided by 212 PPI pixel density compared with 167 PPI on previous
eInk Kindles, and a patented new technology that distributes light far more evenly than we generally experience with ambient light and,
in the bargain, allows for a vastly improved capacitative touch experience.
The dedicated eReader (with its pitiful
eInk screen and inability to do little other than read books) was supposed to join the GPS unit, the MP3 player, and the camcorder
in the dustbin of history, buried by tablets and smart phones.
eInk readers are easier on the eyes, however they are not back - lit so reading
in the dark requires a book light.
