The first step
in the information gathering occurred
in February when an email was sent out to slightly more than 1,000 publication subscribers who also identified their companies as being part of the
fabricated metal product sector, as defined by the North American Industry Classification System.
The remaining eight sub-sectors, however, reported contraction

products; transportation equipment;
fabricated metal products; paper
products; electrical equipments; computer & electronic
products; and printing & related support activities.
The computer & electronic
products sub-sector reported no change while the remaining five reported contractions
in production during the review month

products; appliances and components; paper

fabricated metal products and electrical equipment.
The remaining seven sub-sectors reported declines
in new order

products; electrical equipment; transportation equipment; paper
