To turn around the fortunes of the sub-region, Vice President Bawumia called for
infrastructural development
in key areas such as energy, transportation,
improvement in ports facilities and a predictable business environment.
Apart from making
infrastructural improvements such as enlargement of Belize International Airport
in 1989 and offering fiscal incentives, the public sector has done little to promote tourism.
