The Pixel Visual Core
in the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL has been activated and will improve image processing for the built - in camera app and also for Instagram, WhatsApp, Snapchat and Facebook.
There is nothing missing
in the Pixel XL, which features a 5.5 - inch AMOLED panel with a Quad High Definition resolution and the Snapdragon 821 chip which is even faster than the SD 820 which the Note 7 is packing.
As you can see below, there is a new setting
in the Pixel Launcher that lets you pick between the normal circle icon (no change), Square icons, Rounded Corner Rectangle icons, Squircles, and Cylindrical icons.
As we said, this will put the phone in direct competition with the Pixel, but this doesn't mean it can capture same images as Pixel's camera because Google has evidently used some unique Software and hardware tweaks
in its Pixel devices.
Technically, this means that there's been a slight dip
in pixel density, but no human eyes will really be able to tell the difference.
Android 8.1 brings some welcome refinements to Oreo, including reducing the storage footprint of inactive apps, enhanced autofill capabilities like saving login credentials for various apps and the activation of the special «Visual Core» image - processing chip
in the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.
Last year, we saw the first - ever «Made by Google» phones
in the Pixel and Pixel XL, met the Google Assistant, and caught a glimpse of the Google Home.
Google has been touting the camera
in its Pixel phone as one of the best in the smartphones and along with this, they have also added a few new features for its camera app.
The Asus Zenfone Zoom also comes with a 5.5 - inch display with a 1080p resolution, resulting
in a pixel density of 401 ppi.
Notably, Google has also included an adapter
in Pixel 2 boxes, which can be used with 3.5 mm headphones.
Rumors persist that Google may be considering more than two models
in the Pixel 3 range.
A very subtle change
in the Pixel Launcher (which has already been ported to other devices) is that the search bar now has a microphone icon so you can start a voice search.
Of course this is Android Oreo, so you get all the new features we've been seeing
in Pixel phones and some others for the past few months — things like improved notification management — notifications channels, and the ability to snooze alerts that aren't important right this second.
Users can also rely on Google Assistant
in the Pixel Buds to listen to music, get directions on Google Maps, etc..
These devices also have their own Security Bulletin, which addresses vulnerabilities not affecting devices other than
those in the Pixel and Nexus line.
As we wrote
in the Pixel Buds» review, these are the smartest earbuds you can buy, but with some clear flaws.
First, we learned that there is a custom dedicated SoC
in the Pixel 2 phones for processing the images its cameras take.
Users that do not have a modern Android device
in the Pixel or Nexus lineup, there'll be developers working behind the scenes — and not at Google — to make that a reality before long — stay tuned!
This update will at least solve the buzzing noise
in Pixel 2 and it is about to come soon.

Pixel Visual Core is not actually being used
in the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL just yet.
In the Pixel you have an «exclusive launcher», the integration of Google Assistant voice - control on the home button, a unique camera experience, a calendar icon that shows the date rather than just «31» and a few other bits.
The iPhone doesn't lead
in pixel density, and in fact it hasn't for a few years.

You might remember that this feature first popped up as Edge Sense in the HTC U11, but it's still cool to see it show up
in the Pixel 2 XL.
We love the purity, something that's become increasingly consumer friendly on recent Nexus devices, and
in the Pixel this refinement is at its purest.
Even as the primary shooter takes a boost
in its pixel rating over the Mate S predecessor, the secondary snapper remains the same.
It wasn't just good, it was one of the best cameras of any phone on the market, so naturally we have pretty high expectations for the camera
in the Pixel 2.
