It is unfortunately in the middle of the house, flanked by the living room which gets some light (there is a covered porch on that side of the house) and a Florida room type porch on the other side of the house.

We only have to climb a couple of stairs to come in and out of our back door (I'll blog about the back side of the house next week), but the trek up to the front porch is a little more... uh... thigh muscle burn - y.

The family room shares a double - sided fireplace with the screened in porch on the right side of the home that is connected to a covered porch and grill deck on the rear.

When we took delivery of our last major appliance, we asked to keep the box - the guys threw in 8 other boxes and we had a cardboard village on our side porch for about 2 months - until the rain made it a mushy village.

Looking forward to the adventure of our makeshift kitchen on the side porch and to the patience God is growing in us.

When I lived in Virginia we had a hummingbird feeder on the side porch, and they came in through the kitchen window a couple times..

Screened - in porch featuring shiplap siding and ceiling, outdoor swing bed, heated flooring and interchangeable glass and screens, and access to the pool area.

I have an itsy bitsy deck on the back side of my kitchen and long to have some wonderful out doors porch to «live» in.

half are plugged into the front porch on a timer the other to another plug in the garage on a seperate timer sooooo one side of the lights outside come on FIRST and the other side about an hour LATER.

here is what I would do... and notice, not a paint brush in sight: 1 ~ Hang a great porch swing... weeeee... and that swing must be festooned with loads of floral pillows and some with cow spots 2 ~ Add enough rocking chairs for the fam and a few friends that will stop by 3 ~ On either side of the door... place potted laurel wood privets 4 ~ Drape some cool looking quilts over the brick railing 5 ~ Here and there place some small tables to hold baby pots of lavender and glasses of lemonade or for card playing and bonus... 6 ~ From the ceiling hang some iron chandeliers and another bonus... 7 ~ Place a cat or dog on that porch

New siding, new light fixtures, new door, new shutters, new paint scheme, new portico, etc However, we can't fix our side porch off the kitchen and our old deck is coming down (not safe) and since the next phase will include a sunroom and screened in deck across the back of our home, we are basically just putting a landing with stairs to the ground to replace the deck as it sits so high off the ground.

Since there are no extra rooms in the house, I would love to enclose the side porch into a sunroom.

The side porch is newly - screened in and is the perfect place for enjoying Mermaid Morning Bliss (MMM Bliss) coffee in the morning or cocktails in the evening.

The exterior has been dressed up with new siding painted in a warm neutral tone, exterior sconces, wood porch posts and a metal roof specially requested by the Kings.

On the down side, there are no clocks except the one on the microwave; no wastebaskets in the bedrooms; bad lighting in the bathrooms, kitchen & screened porch; towel racks are needed in the half bath; kitchen chairs are very wobbly; sofa needs to be replaced; the knives are not sharp; there's no large bowl for salad or mixing a cake; kitchen storage is virtually nonexistent; porch screen doors need handles & latches; transferring items from the washer to the dryer is difficult because the dryer door does not stay open and you hit your head on it; and some ceiling fans need longer pull chains.
