Results indicate that more than 90 % of special education teachers work in regular elementary or secondary schools, though more than 80 % of their instructional time is
spent in special education settings.
Ms Macdonald said that strategies designed for
use in special education settings were not always feasible for teaching children on the spectrum in mainstream classroom, but that researchers could work with teachers to develop effective support strategies.
In order for any teacher to master the art of
pedagogy in a special education setting, it is intrinsically clear that they need to maintain a commitment to assessing student needs and providing highly individualized support for every student.

Our findings suggest that technology - integrated
fieldwork in a special education setting allows preservice teachers to experiment with technology and make decisions that utilize various dimensions of TPACK when planning and implementing lessons.

The most important recommendation is to work closely and collaboratively with the child's special education team and use the same techniques, strategies, and tools in the general education setting that are being used with the student
in the special education setting.
