Maple syrup: It's most commonly available
in syrup form, but some places sell maple sugar, which has the same flavour.
Prunes can be eaten raw, freshly ground, juiced,
in syrup form, as jam, or as a supplement, in capsules.
It can not be sold as crystals or table sugar because the mix of fructose and glucose exist
in a syrup form.
Adding the spice element
in syrup form gave me plenty of control over the final flavor balance of the cocktail.
I haven't encountered
it in syrup form yet, but I am sure it's available somewhere.
Lore suggests that this was how early Native Americans used maple - as opposed to
in syrup form, because it lasts much longer and is easier to store.
