This exhibition of new video works is the next
in the
gallery's annual
black box programming that highlights the moving image.
Inside the white walled and carpeted
gallery, viewers encounter a
black box on the floor to the left that appears to be folding
in on itself where a cut - out has been made
in its center.
Hanging
in an otherwise empty white cube, these were the first things one saw before a mix of music and motorized projector noise ushered the viewer into the
black box at the
gallery ’s
Spare,
black - on - white 1978 studies of rectangular
boxes, each one subtly different
in line or angle, the etchings hang on the downstairs walls of the
gallery as quiet reminders of an artistic legacy almost selfless
in its commitment to form.
