stock is also cheep judging from the absolute level of a number of valuation multiples and if the investor
in the process of analyzing the qualities and inexpensiveness of the
stock has been free from biases.
For example, if the iShares Canadian Tech Sector ETF (XIT), is moving up, would it theoretically be possible to buy its top two or three components (Research
in Motion, CGI Group Inc. — Class A, and Open Text Corp) and therefore
weed out the smaller
stocks holding the performance back?

in a form that lets us
weed out the extremes — excessively overvalued
stocks, and those that are suspiciously cheap.
Regardless, I don't want to get caught too much
in the
weeds here, is that my point generally is to just keep an open mind when it comes to compounders, cheap
stocks, etc... there are no black and white rules... sometimes holding them forever works great, other times selling them to reinvest
in more undervalued ideas works also.
If that was the only criteria, no one would own
stock in Waste Management (up almost 20 % over the past year) and would just own
stock in... well, beer, Netflix, and
weed.
So think twice before you cut, aerate, spray, water,
weed, gas up and plug
in or before you run to the nearest home improvement store to
stock up on chemicals for your lawn and garden.
