In most of the Arabian Peninsula, which
includes the U.A.E. and Kuwait, women wear an
abaya — a long dress that covers all of the body except for the hands and is usually paired with a niqab or a hijab, the latter of which covers the head but leaves the face exposed.
The most commonly used fabrics used for
abayas include chiffon, crepe, silk, satin and georgette.
The modern era has introduced a huge collection of colors in
Abaya and Hijab; it may
include orange, pink, lavender, green and earth tone.
The
abaya is a more formal style of Muslim dress, however much like the hijab, these are now available in a variety of colours and with detailed patterns
included in the design.
