Yves Klein (1928 — 1962), was a conceptual artist par excellence, a radical, utopian dreamer described by the French critic, Pierre Restany as «a painter, but also infinitely more: a believer living in his own sense of the divine», whose diverse practice
included ephemeral works in his quest for immateriality.

Travel writing is often associated with tourism, and
includes works of an
ephemeral nature such as guide books and reviews, with the
Lindberg's atmospheric
work delivers lessons in saturation and dispersal, and one might consider her inquiry as an extension of the color experiments of predecessors
including Joseph Albers, Robert Irwin, and James Turrell, as well as acts of
ephemeral architecture.
This past year my
work has been
included in exhibitions at the 2012 New York Photo Festival (Brooklyn, NY), South Hill Park Arts Centre (Bracknell, UK), Artspace New Haven (CT), Galerie Jeanroch Dard (Paris, France) and most recently a solo exhibition, The Dubious Sum of Vaguely Discernable Parts, at the Bindery Projects in St. Paul, Minnesota which
included a series of text based drawings, a photo installation and
ephemeral print publication of images and writings.
The
works currently on display
include traditional ephemera (Italian language guides, bakery business cards) as well as original
works of art that mimic knickknacks, such as Sinead Cahill's hand - embroidered «girl scout» merit badges made from lithographed fabric, and many things that are not
ephemeral at all, but step outside traditional fine art forms into the realm of the quotidian.
The themes of remembering and forgetting, of the palpable and
ephemeral, emotional and intellectual, political and personal, are given striking form in this exhibition, and the loss will be ours if the
work of all 16 talented artists
included in this show is not carried into the future.
The show at Garage will also be expanded, to
include a special
ephemeral intervention in the Atrium by Carlos Cruz - Diez, as well as several
works and reconstructions by Russian, Latvian, and Estonian artists.
Working in
ephemeral materials
including paint, chalk, organic berry pigment and blood, Washington embarks on an existential search as she layers multiple marks and erasures over time.
These new
works,
ephemeral but potent, held a long note to the glories of Chinatis destination permanent collection
including site - specific
works by artists such as Roni Horn, Richard Long, Claes Oldenburg, David Rabinowitch.
PERFORMANCES To support the expanding strategies and media that artists use today, we present time - based art to
include multidisciplinary and
ephemeral work as a part of our public programs.
Clare Lilley, who selected and placed the
works, said: «From the contemplative and
ephemeral to the robust and monumental, the exhibition
includes the park's first - ever conceptual
work — a remaking of a rare 1969 piece by Ed Herring — and classic painted sculptures by Claes Oldenburg and Jean Dubuffet alongside a newly created
work by Eddie Martinez.
Her art, characterised by an intense realism,
includes works on paper and
ephemeral installations, and find inspiration in contemporary or historical events such as the torture of women in Nicaragua, the Holocaust and the atrocities committed during the Vietnamese War.
For decades she has created large scale
ephemeral pigment pieces in desert sites
including the Pyramids of Giza and more recently the ice desert of Antarctica where she led an expedition and team of scientists and artists that culminated in the first and largest
ephemeral art
work created on the continent.
In the front room of the gallery, three
works will be displayed
including videos from Doug Rickard's acclaimed project «National Anthem» and Jeroen Jongeleen's
ephemeral land artwork «Running Shapes.»
Baumgarten's body of
work has
included ephemeral sculptures, photographic
work, slide projection pieces, 16 mm film
works, recordings, drawings, prints, books, short stories, as well as site - specific
works and wall drawings and architecture related interventions.
Covering all periods of Boetti's broad oeuvre —
including early sculptural experiments associated with the Arte Povera movement, conceptual and
ephemeral projects of the 1970s and the monumental embroideries and tapestries he fabricated up to his death — this richly illustrated catalogue is structured as a typology of the artist's body of
work rather than a chronological progression.

Over 100 women from 15 countries are
included, from well - known artists like Lygia Clark, Ana Mendieta, and Judy Baca, to scores of underrepresented pioneers,
working across a wide spectrum of media from painting and sculpture, to photography, video, installation, and
ephemeral actions.
Galerie Lelong will present rarely seen photographs by the British land artist Andy Goldsworthy (b. 1956),
including several that document early
ephemeral works and demonstrate the origin of ideas and themes that remain central to his practice today.
A chronological installation of Abramović's
work will be
included in The Joan and Preston Robert Tisch Gallery on the sixth floor of the Museum, revealing different modes of representing, documenting, and exhibiting her
ephemeral, time - based, and media - based
works.
These
works are characterized by striking — and, ultimately, enduringly influential — formal innovations,
including the appropriation of unconventional industrial materials like latex and rope, organic and natural materials like saplings and earth, and
ephemeral materials like wax and paper.
The artist, whose other
works have
included ephemeral geometric «snow drawings,» told TreeHugger she wanted to grapple with how the dam has changed the environment it flows through, especially the Three Gorges area, a natural wonder visited by thousands of tourists a year.
