«Addictions» to the chemicals used in food,
including artificial colours, artificial flavours and other additives like MSG, just like other addictions to caffeine, nicotine,
alcohol and other drugs, can create a
craving in the body that can only be quelled by consuming more of the offending substance.
Also, for every unhealthy substance that I have tapered way down on —
including salt, sugar, caffeine, and
alcohol, I find that I actually lose my
cravings for the substance, the more I'm able to taper down my usage.
