Do you believe this work would have been published in Science if it had only
included the Holocene up to the 19th century?
Does it also
include a Holocene Climate optimum, Minoan Warm Period, Roman Warm Period and Medieval Warm Period, and the cold epochs in between?
To an Earth - system scientist the difference between the Quaternary period (which
includes the Holocene) and the Neogene, which came before it, is not just what was living where, or what the sea level was; it is that in the Neogene the climate stayed stable whereas in the Quaternary it swung in and out of a series of ice ages.

Holocene —
including the Little Ice Age and Medieval Warm Period that seem to figure so prominently in many skeptics» tracts?
Surely, John, you realize that creating a complete and accurate picture of the

Holocene, as I already in my comment above stated concerning the recent increase of CO2 content in atmosphere.
As has been mentioned earlier, I think an accurate historical perspective (evidence) of the past 50,000 years (to
include our early
Holocene) would go a long way in building interest from alarmists and skeptics in addressing the problem from a factual perspective (what has happened) rather than a mindless modeling game (what answer do we want to make happen).
The many climatic fluctuations afterwards,

So my point remains, he has made a blanket statement which is at odds with the many studies which have built up our knowledge of this during the last century, by which the

If it is, it means media should move their focus from both «consensus» and skeptic blogosphere (

Holocene glaciation, up to and

Because of the very large changes on Baffin Island through the early
Holocene,
including a major reduction of glacier elevation, it is not evident that the recent exposures can in themselves constitute a comparison of Early
Holocene and present temperatures, though they definitely show a resumption of the glacier drawdown that was interrupted by the Little Ice Age.
