Gelman said Stringer has «worked around the clock» on Sandy relief and that he «feels strongly that we are all one city, and for that reason has worked collaboratively to target areas that suffered damages from Hurricane Sandy,
including other boroughs that were particularly hard hit,» she said.

other factors, according to Chair John Gulino, who called de Blasio «a true champion of Staten Island» in an endorsement statement that also touches on broader themes like crime reduction.
They
included all the
other inner London
boroughs with 160 or more rough sleepers.
Aside from sterilization, the city also plans to use
other non-lethal methods of dealing with the animals
including public education about living with deer to reduce car crashes and tick - borne illnesses, traffic safety measures like extra signage and to add deer - resistive plantings to the
borough.
But it still could mean job losses — most of them women,
including two currently on maternity leave — and the council's free newspaper, which keeps residents informed of social housing opportunities and
other council services in a
borough where many do not have the internet, is also under threat.
Addressing a crowd that
included the heads of New York's four
other boroughs as well as Christine Quinn, the speaker of the City Council, Diaz described his «holistic vision» and «conceptual master plan» for the
borough which, he said, «is reshaping the Bronx and advancing a strong agenda for its future.»
The
borough with the lowest population in the city had the largest ratio of property damage claims against the city,
including cars wrecked by potholes and
other issues — 207 for every 100,000 people, the Staten Island Advance reported.
The area also
includes the Staten Island Ferry terminal and has a slightly more urban, sometimes even hip, feel than
other parts of the decidedly suburban
borough: A major waterfront revitalization project will
include «MRKTPL,» touted as «Staten Island's first artisanal food hall» and set to open in 2017.
But unlike some of the
others —
including Christine C. Quinn, the City Council speaker; Bill de Blasio, the public advocate; and Scott M. Stringer, the Manhattan
borough president — he is not an elected official and has not been seen as much in public.
Others who spoke at the lively press conference
included Rep. Carolyn Maloney, Rep. Jerry Nadler, Queens
borough president Melinda Katz and John Zaccaro, the son of the late Geraldine Ferraro.
Other grants awarded by the
borough president
include: $ 250,000 for the bike path near Jackson Street along the East River, $ 200,000 for the Al Smith Rec Center on Catherine Street and $ 100,000 for an East River Park wetland project being spearheaded by the LES Ecology Center.
In addition to Mr. Stringer and Mr. Jeffries,
other possible candidates
include Letitia James, the public advocate, and Ruben Diaz Jr., the Bronx
borough president.
It envisions a commission whose members would be appointed by a range of elected officials,
including the mayor; Corey Johnson, the City Council speaker; Ms. James; Scott M. Stringer, the comptroller; Ms. Brewer and the four
other borough presidents.
The report notes
other development highlights from 2014,
including a total of $ 788 million in residential development, $ 483 million in institutional development and $ 134 million in commercial development across the
borough.

other states, the cost of funding Medicaid in New York is shared between the state government and its 62 counties —
including the five
boroughs of New York City.
